Spinning Wheel Demo at Brightside Gallery with Grace McFetters on May 19, 5 to 8 p.m.
There will be a live spinning wheel demonstration by Grace McFetters in the front yard at Brightside Gallery on May 19 , 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. Grace McFetters says her mother guilted her into learning to knit, but in reality, the fiber arts have been in her hands since she was cross-stitching as a child. She started knitting three years ago, and hand spinning quickly followed the year after. An insatiable learner, she picked both up quickly and pursued advanced techniques within the first year of her first attempts. Her newest prospects include learning to weave and bobbin lace. Her artistic pursuits include more than just fiber, as well. Grace and her mother, Karen, have taught Pysanky, Ukrainian Easter Eggs, for years. Their eggs have been featured on Roy's Folks and in Thrive magazine. Grace is an OIF/OEF veteran and hopes to one day open the Randolph County Fiber Arts Academy along with her own fiber farm. Stop by to visit with Grace and step back in time with this amazing local fiber artist!
