With a look (and ear!) to a combination of spirituals & protest songs, renowned Kennedy Center vocalist Mary D Williams illustrates how music provides an effective entry point for uniting us as we examine history from enslavement through the Civil Rights Movement. This live, in-person musical performance is sponsored by the Friends of the Library and is free and open to the public. Mary D. Williams has performed on an international stage in France, before the US Congress; and her songs has appeared in Hollywood movies such as "Blood Done Sign My Name".
