This lecture with Dr. Arwin Smallwood of NC A&T helps you to better understand the history and importance of Juneteenth as well as increasing understanding and unity concerning the impact of slavery on not just African-Americans but all Americans and the historic efforts required to abolish it. The presentation will also draw attention to slavery in North Carolina and the over 5,000 African-Americans, whites and Native Americans that fought to end slavery and create a better life for themselves and all the people of the state of North Carolina after the Civil War.
