Book Signing With Donna and Loraye Hughes at Brightside Gallery

Come out and join Donna and Loraye Hughes at Brightside Gallery, 170 Worth Street, for their first Asheboro book signing on November 26 from 12 to 3 PM. Their first book collaboration is “Miss Ginny The Guinea.” Donna and Loraye put together a children’s book about a guinea hen that followed them out of the woods and took up living on their farm on Loraye’s patio. Everyone they knew was enchanted with the humor and antics of the bird. Donna, the family wordsmith, wrote the book and Loraye painted and shot photos of most of the illustrations for the book. After 30 years with Randolph County schools teaching elementary school and serving in different administrative posts, she retired to the farm where she could enjoy her horses, gardening, floral horticulture and teaching piano and voice. Donna, a well-known area musician, has released six albums and has written songs for artists around the world—including Grammy winners. Donna’s other career is that of a very busy local realtor.
