Randolph County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state and our retail sales continue to increase at a very steady rate. With the future highway improvements and the creation of Interstates 73 and 74, the county is in a very well placed, strategic, position to assure our continued growth for many years to come.
We are sixth heaviest industrialized county in the state with a very well diversified industrial base. We are also strategically located in the center of the state, which makes our business community easily accessible from throughout the region. In addition, the North Carolina Zoo, Seagrove Potters, Richard Petty Museum, North Carolina Aviation Museum and a host of other attractions draw a large number of visitors to our community throughout the year. Current highway projects that will affect the area include the previous mentioned construction of two new interstate highways, I-73 & 74, and the widening to four lanes of NC 49 to Charlotte and US 64 between Lexington and Raleigh. These projects will increase our accessibility and the number of visitors to our community.
