Medicare 2020 and Medicare Fraud and Abuse – What You Need to Know
Come join us to learn about two programs within our NC Department of Insurance – SHIIP and NCSMP – that can assist persons with Medicare-related issues and educate and inform persons about Medicare fraud and abuse. There will also be an overview of Medicare A, B, C and D for 2020; and a question and answer session will follow the presentation! Jeanie Schepisi, is one of five SHIIP Regional Managers. She joined the NC SHIIP staff in July, 1996, as the Piedmont Area Regional Manager. Jeanie manages a twenty-four county area, which includes Guilford, the county in which she resides, and Davidson, the county in which she grew up. As a Regional Manager, Jeanie recruits and trains SHIIP Volunteer Counselors and County Coordinators, and provides outreach to her counties through speaking engagements, exhibits at conferences/health fairs, and radio/television “appearances”. SHIIP (Seniors’ Health Insurance Information Program) is North Carolina’s State Health Insurance Assistance Program, which was created in 1986, to provide information and assistance to consumers, with regards to Medicare. A federal mandate, implemented in 1992, now requires each state to have a State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIIP). SHIIP services are neutral, objective and unbiased and are provided at no cost to the client. In addition to the main SHIIP office, which is located in Raleigh, there is a SHIIP Coordinating Site in each and every county of North Carolina.
