Asheboro Christmas Drive-Thru Parade
The Asheboro Christmas Parade coordinated by the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber and City of Asheboro has been a holiday tradition for the first Friday in December for many years. When the pandemic threatened to cancel the annual parade, they decided to retool it.
This year they are planning on having a reverse parade where the floats are stationary and spectators, however, will stay in their cars and drive through one way in Downtown Asheboro.
The Asheboro Christmas Parade “Drive-Thru Style” will be held on December 11th, 7-9pm. The route will start at Academy and Church Street in Asheboro and travel North to Sunset Avenue. The route will then travel East on Sunset Avenue to Bicentennial Park and through the park and back to Academy Street. Vehicles are requested to keep moving and not stop along the route.
Spectators are encouraged to add to the festivities by decorating their vehicles too.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be the final float at the end of the parade route waving to children and the young at heart as they drive by. Children are encouraged to share their wishes with Santa as they drive by.
Normal traffic safety rules apply. Only spectators (riding only) in cars or trucks will be permitted along the parade route.
Although the Christmas On Sunset will not be held this year, residents are encouraged to frequent the businesses in Downtown Asheboro for holiday shopping and entertainment all through December.
