47th Annual Asheboro Fall Festival Kickoff Concert
The Randolph Arts Guild is pleased to announce the 47th Annual Asheboro Fall Festival, to be held the first full weekend in October. The event will kick off on October 4th from 7 pm to 9 pm with a concert in Downtown Asheboro’s Bicentennial Park. Vendors will welcome festival goers on Saturday, October 5th, 10 am – 6 pm and Sunday, October 6th, 12 pm – 6 pm. The inaugural festival was the Old-Fashioned Fall Festival held in 1972 with approximately 30-35 vendors and was located only on Sunset Avenue in Downtown Asheboro. Today, the 2019 Asheboro Fall Festival will have over 185 vendors showcasing their beautiful handcrafted goods, delicious food, and local and regional businesses and non-profit information. Since 1972, the Festival has grown to encompass the blocks of Worth St, Fayetteville St, and Sunset Ave, bordered by Cox St, Salisbury St, Academy St, and Church St. With such growth there was a need to increase the footprint of the Festival to allow police and emergency crews access to vendors and for participant’s safety. This festival is for all ages and will include live music in Downtown Asheboro’s Bicentennial Park beginning on Friday night with Hindsight and rock band Burnt Biscuits. The music will continue throughout the weekend with many local bands and talent such as William Nesmith, Mightier Than Me and The Steadfast Bluegrass Gospel Band, and includes many local buskers and street performers. A kidz and teen zone will be located at Bicentennial Park and on North Fayetteville Street and will include bounce houses and play areas as well as a gaming zone, face painters and arts and crafts provided by the Randolph Arts Guild. Our food vendors will tempt your taste buds with Asheboro Fall Festival favorites of barbecue sandwiches, funnel cakes, roasted corn, and turkey legs. Added to our food courts this year, located at the end of each major vein of this year’s festival, are traditional and unique foods featuring tamales, tacos, spring rolls, gyros and a variety of egg rolls filled with vegetables, Philly cheesesteak and jerk chicken. But we didn’t forget your favorite sweets and treats! Snow cones, cotton candy, funnel cakes and MUCH MUCH MORE! For more festival information, visit our website or visit our booth at the intersection of Sunset and Fayetteville Street, or stop by Morings Fine Crafts, located at 123 Sunset Ave.
