Kids’ Fishing Derby at Lake Lucas, 3158 Old Lexington Road, Asheboro. Open to youth between the ages of 5-13. Free. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. and includes lunch. Derby will begin at 8 a.m.; final weigh-in at noon. Participants will compete for prizes in each of the following age categories: 5-7, 8-10 and 11-13. Prizes will be awarded for the biggest pan fish, biggest bass, biggest catfish and most fish caught. N.C. Wildlife Commission requires that all children under 16 years of age be accompanied by a properly licensed adult. Info: Asheboro Cultural and Recreation Services Office at (336) 626-1240.
